40 Winks Guesthouse is a small boutique guesthouse located in the heart of Durham. They approached the team at Discovery Design as they sought a new brand and website to promote their grade II listed property which had been newly refurbished into unique guest rooms.

As an elegant, boutique brand, the identity needed to encapsulate this. When it came to the design, the client was open to our ideas and trusted us to create a brand that took inspiration from their property, but would also stand out in the competitive hospitality industry.

With this approach, we developed a series of strong concepts and ultimately chose a brand identity that reflects the property’s period-style door, complemented by a stylish font and a bold colour palette. This design was carried through to the logo, effectively conveying the brand’s elegance. We extended this theme across the website, particularly on the room search page, where each room option is framed within a grand door frame. This unique detail enhances the boutique feel of the brand and reinforces its distinct identity.

Once we had finalised the brand, we rolled it out through the web design. We created a sleek, aesthetically pleasing website which showcases the property through elegant design elements and photography, with a seamless booking system.
