Selling your products online can be an exciting process and a great way of generating business, however it isn’t without it’s problems, just because you’re available online doesn’t mean that customers are going to just appear.

If you’ve launched your store and found that potential customers just aren’t buying then it’s possible you’ve made a mistake somewhere. Luckily we’ve put together a list of the most common mistakes people make in order for you to spot where you could be going wrong.

Bad product images

Visuals are important! Simple. You’re customer wants to be able to see the product clearly on your website before they buy. They want a clear, high quality, focused images that show of your product as detailed as possible. Bad quality, unrealistic images are likely to drive your customers away to a website where they have a clear idea of what is on offer.

Surprise charges

Don’t surprise your customers extra charges once they get to the checkout. One of the biggest reasons for shopping cart abandonment is surprise extra fees so if you have shipping costs or even returns costs make your customers aware as soon as possible.

Bad descriptions

Along with bad images another thing to avoid is bad product descriptions. You want to tell your customers exactly what they can expect from your product, be detailed, add things your customers will be interested in such as what your product is made from and what size your products might be.

Complicated checkout process

Your customer has made a decision, they’ve decided what they want and now they’re wanting to pay, simple. So make sure your checkout process is in fact just that, simple. Try and make it so that your checkout process takes as few clicks as possible and don’t make your customers create an account to make a purchase, there’s nothing more off-putting than being forced into registering an account just to buy one item.

Unresponsive design

If your website is built just for desktop then that needs to change very quickly, it’s 2016 and people love to browse the web through mobile devices, so it’s important that your website is suitable for them. If someone using a tablet comes to your website and it’s clunky, slow and unresponsive then the fact is they’ll go elsewhere, don’t let a bad design generate your competitors sales.
