Bells Fish and Chips is a family-run chain of restaurants in County Durham, founded over 60 years ago. Known for their award-worthy fish and chips and their community-first approach, Bells combines classic British cuisine with local pride. As the business evolved, Bells needed a digital presence that matched their identity. They also wanted something that celebrated their history, while helping them reach the next generation of diners.
Bells Fish and Chips
Modern design, rooted in heritage
Bells approached us with a website that didn’t reflect the warmth or legacy of their brand. Key customer information such as booking, looking at menus, or finding branch info, were all lost as the website was outdated and difficult to navigate. We led a full redesign to create a website that’s not only easy to use, but also tells the Bells story.
By introducing custom illustrations and a brighter colour palette, we’re able to attract younger customers without alienating their current customer base. The result is a website that feels premium yet familiar, designed to reflect both the quality of the food and the character of the brand.
Clear customer navigation
Navigation was completely rethought with a mobile-first approach. Calls to action were made prominent and their menu (which is one of the most visited pages) now sits front and centre. We also added a timeline to highlight Bells’ history, helping users connect with the brand’s roots in a meaningful way.
